Everyday Is Your Birthday!

Everyday Is Your Birthday!

What if every day was your birthday? Well just before turning a woman of a certain age, I decided to make every day my birthday. It was that year I realized how I waited until that one day to make that expensive purchase, get a massage, splurge on fresh flowers, or make a life changing decision because I felt I had more personal power…on that one day.

So today I’m planning to lose track of time and live in the moment. I never realized the freedom in letting the day take me until my daughter started Kindergarten. One day while she was at school, I actually lost track of time while out shopping. It occurred to me that I had not had that feeling in the prior 5 years, despite having spent much of my 30s in that glorious space. If you are an over-achiever, do-everything-for-everyone kind of person, you may love this too. Who knows where the adventure may lead! In the meantime, I’m sharing a few of my every-day-is-my-birthday favorite things. Some were gifts, some splurges, some inspiration, some beauty secrets I’ve picked up along the way. Ta-da!

Multi-gemstone necklace…my first every-day-is-my-birthday purchase. Didn’t wait a day to think about it, mill over spending the money—just did it. This is such an empowering symbol to me. I loved it. I could afford it, even though it was a bit of a splurge, and I bought it on the spot.

Massage therapist extraordinaire…Cherie Young. We first met in Nashville when she needed a practice patient to earn her practicum hours for massage certification. This life-changing connection kept me healthy and clear-headed for over a decade. There’s nothing quite like the serenity of a massage by a truly gifted therapist.

The Road Less Traveled…this book inspired me to think around age 24. Many, many thought provoking conversations have ensued in the decades since then.

First Things First…this book inspired a work/life balance, transformative.

Generations 1912 aquamarine and blue sapphire ring…one of the best gifts of my life from my dear friend Bob Weinmann. His grandfather designed the original and Bob found the jewelry models and dyes while moving his office in New York several years ago. He breathed new life into these amazing pieces from 1912.

Pink eye highlighter by Dimitri James…he gave me a sample kit 15 years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Best eye highlight and concealer ever!!

Clarins self tanner…my sister introduced me to this magical cream. A little pricey, but good things are worth paying for.

Lancome mascara…WOW! Just received this in an HSN goodie bag. WOW!

So try it, let every day be your birthday! And share here. I want to hear your inspiring story!
