Lea’s Ideas

After 20 years on television, I am realizing I may never go back to the studio. So how about bringing the studio home? A little lights, camera and action and off we go.

When I launched my on-camera career we used big bulky cameras with a video tape recorder attached. There was a crew of camera operators and audio technicians as well as production assistants. We edited in a linear format with a professional editor and sat in a dark room for hours. Each shot had to be planned with a paper edit and a time code on the tape noted. I spent hours watching and rewatching “takes” or shots to produce the paper timeline for my editor. All this for a 30 second spot.

Now those painstakingly time consuming steps can be done digitally inside an iphone or tablet. It’s mind boggling how far technology has come. Just this year with the new Apple airpods the microphone is built right in to the earbuds so even the audio is wireless.

No matter the technology, telling the story is the real key to any great video or blog. That’s the journey I’d like to invite you to share with me. From my home. From my family. From my heart.

I am embarking on a new voyage. As a television veteran of 20 years and 20,000 hours of live tv, I want to share ideas, stories, solutions and shortcuts. My aim is to help you find products that help you save time or offer solutions so you can spend more time with the people you love doing the things that you love.

Hang out with me for a while on a journey of discovery.
